PEARL HARBORThe Second World War stands as the most historically significant event of the 20th century: politically, economically, socially, and culturally. There has never been carnage on such a massive scale. Some eighty million human beings were casualties of the war, including six million Jews exterminated by the Nazis in the Holocaust. Nuclear weapons were developed and deployed for the first time. The map of the world was forever altered in the war's aftermath, with the United States and the Soviet Union emerging as rival superpowers.
On December 7, 1941, "a date that will live in infamy," the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, compelling the U.S. to enter the war on the side of the Allies. This set contains two notes issued by the Japanese Government that were printed to circulate in occupied Philippines, which was attacked right after Pearl Harbor. These 1 and 5 peso notes were designed to resemble American and bills.
This Collectible Certified Authentic World War Two set would make the perfect Christmas gift for the history major in your life!
